The Lower Saucon Township police hosted 'National Night Out' - an annual community-building event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
It is estimated that between 300 and 400 residents came out to spend time with the Lower Saucon Township police department. Among demonstrations of a vehicle extraction and K-9 tactics, attendees were treated with a number of food options, games, rides, and community spirit.
Special highlights of the night included the annual tug-of-war contest between the police officer and firefighters - won by the firefighters, and of course the children vs. police tug-of-war. Once again, the children were victorious. Finally, Chief Tom Brandt was dunked countless times in the dunk tank as kids (and some adults) took their aim.
