Per an advisory sent out by email from the Lower Saucon Township Police Department, community members are advised that Polk Valley Park will be CLOSED on Friday, September 8th, between 7AM and 4PM for a memorial service.
From the email:
"Polk Valley Park will be CLOSED on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 7:00am - 4:00pm due to the Memorial Service for fallen Lower Saucon Fire/Rescue Safety Officer John Kalynych being held in the park. There will be an increase of fire apparatus and vehicle traffic in the area."
Per a Lower Saucon Fire Rescue Facebook post found here, "John dedicated his life in service to others, starting his career as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technical in the late 1980's."
In additional post from the Catasauqua Fire Department, found here, said this of John: “John dedicated his life in service to others, starting his career as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technical in the late 1980’s. … Along with being a dedicated member of the emergency services, John was a proud father. In addition to his sons, he was a friend and mentor to countless Emergency Responders across the State”.
